Blueprint Directory Scores Big at the Florida Magazine Association’s 2006 Charlie Awards
Blueprint Directory, South Florida’s leading art, architecture, and design magazine, won three of the top prizes at the Florida Magazine Association’s 2006 “Charlie Awards,“ held Saturday, August 26, in Orlando. Named after the late Charles G. Welborn, a longtime professor of journalism and communications at the University of Florida, the Charlies represent the highest degree of excellence in Florida magazine journalism.
Blueprint Directory won Charlies for Best Feature Design and Best Overall Design (outdistancing LRM and HOME Miami, which finished second and third, respectively), and was runner-up in the Best Feature category. The highlight of the evening, however, came when Blueprint Directory garnered the association’s award for Best New Magazine. It was a fitting acknowledgment for Blueprint Directory, whose creative coverage of the South Florida design community has been winning readers since it launched in the spring of 2005.
Published six times a year by Miami-based The Sebring Group, Blueprint Directory (blueprintdirectory.com) has a bi-monthly circulation of over 30,000 that includes artists, architects, interior designers and just about anyone else who cares about cutting-edge design. The September/October issue, now available, features a profile of Carnival Cruise Lines’ chief architect, Joe Farcus, a one-on-one interview with interior designer and preservationist Teri D’Amico, and a sneak preview of the Carnival Center for the Performing Arts.
