Working with visionary Adam Sandow and Creative Director Yolanda Yoh - Dean's redesign of Worth magazine garnished a Gold Medal for Best Redesign of a Magazine at the Annual Society of Publication Design Awards 2010. Not to be overlooked, the transformation of Sandow Media's watch magazine inSync to the upscale Watch Journal has elevated the publication to a major player in the luxury watch market.
THE SEBRING GROUP - Creative Director (2004-2008)
In 2004 Dean with his wife, Valerie formed a fresh and resourceful design team. The Sebring Group's flagship magazine the Blueprint Directory - hauled in 6 first place design awards over its short-lived lifespan – including Best New Magazine, Best Cover Design, Best Overall Use of Photography and Best Overall Design Magazine 2-years in a row. In 2008 the Sebring Group accepted an offer to join the innovative publisher Sandow Media and over see the special projects division developing new titles and brand development.
MIAMI NEW TIMES WEEKLY - Art Director (1996-2004)
Dean honed his editorial design skills while keeping up with the workload of a deadline-driven weekly publication provided experience and confidence. Designing hundreds of stories — everything from hard-hitting political and investigative reports to quirky color and entertainment pieces — developed an ability to create visually striking solutions based on impact, concept, and simplicity. Dean's layouts have received more than 20 national and state awards, including representation in the last six Print Magazine Regional Design annuals. With this added exposure, NewTimes has been able to attract some of the best illustrators and photographers in the business.
Computer literate with all Macintosh software and hardware, including Quark, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash and Adobe Acrobat & Distiller.
